Real-Time Detection of Vaping & Smoke
The AXIS D6210 Air Quality Sensor is a sophisticated indoor environmental monitoring device designed to integrate seamlessly with Axis IP cameras and other compatible Axis devices using proprietary Portcast technology. Unlike standalone sensors, the D6210 is installed in-line between a host Axis device (such as a camera or strobe siren) and its power source, requiring no additional IP addresses, switch ports, or power supply ports. This design enables real-time monitoring and proactive alerts for various air quality issues, including the detection of vaping and smoking, as well as measurement of key air quality parameters such as temperature, relative humidity, carbon dioxide (CO₂) levels, particulate matter (PM1.0, PM2.5, PM4.0, PM10.0), volatile organic compounds (VOC), and nitrogen oxides (NOx). The sensor supports event-triggered automation, allowing users to define threshold levels that, when exceeded, can trigger actions like adjusting ventilation or activating alarms.
The D6210 displays air quality data in real time and can overlay this information onto live video streams from connected Axis cameras, enhancing situational awareness and compliance documentation. It samples air quality once per second and stores data every 30 seconds for up to 90 days via the host device. The sensor is housed in a durable polycarbonate casing, rated IK08 for impact resistance and compliant with UL, CE, and FCC standards. It operates within a temperature range of -10°C to 45°C and humidity levels from 0–90% RH (non-condensing), making it suitable for environments such as schools, data centers, public buildings, and smart facilities. Power is supplied via standard IEEE 802.3af/802.3at PoE, and the device features a multicolour status LED for clear operational feedback. The D6210 is also compatible with the Axis Camera Application Platform (ACAP) and supports integration with Axis Camera Station and third-party video management software, offering a five-year warranty for long-term reliability.
