Grade A1 Alarm Monitoring
When your security system activates, our experienced team reacts. JD Security provides back-to-base monitoring for commercial and enterprise alarm systems across Australia, from our own Grade A1 monitoring centre.
What Is Alarm Monitoring?
Alarm monitoring — known in Australia as back-to-base monitoring — connects your intruder alarm to a staffed monitoring centre. When the system activates, a signal travels a supervised path to the centre, an operator assesses it against your account, and your response plan is put to work.
A professionally monitored alarm system changes what an activation means: instead of a siren and a guess, you get assessment, contact and escalation in a fixed order — every time, at any hour. It’s part of our [security monitoring] services, run entirely from our own centre.
Supervised Communications Paths
Remote alarm monitoring is only as strong as the path the signal travels. That’s why modern signalling runs over supervised IP and 4G paths that are polled at intervals — if a path fails or is cut, that itself raises an event at the monitoring centre. Dual-path and dual-SIM options keep signals moving when a network doesn’t.
We commission monitoring over the alarm communicators Australian sites already rely on — Permaconn, Direct Wireless and Inner Range Multipath — so in most takeovers, your existing communicator stays right where it is. Polling rates and configurations are matched to your compliance and insurer requirements.

Multipath Transmitters
The Multipath T4000 range is designed to modernise alarm communications by connecting a Contact-ID dialler-equipped alarm panel to a central monitoring station over multiple secure IP paths—typically combining the client’s fixed internet (Ethernet) with 4G cellular, for resilient “always-on” signalling. Built as a versatile field device, the T4000 supports simple upgrade paths for legacy diallers as well as higher-level integrations for more advanced system control, with features like secure encrypted transmission and remote management capabilities that make it a practical “go-to” communicator for a wide range of sites.
The Multipath T4000X builds on the standard T4000 feature set by adding extra onboard I/O (8 inputs and 8 outputs), making it especially useful for straightforward monitoring-and-control tasks or as a stand-alone 4G communicator where additional points are required. By contrast, the Multipath T4000 Ultralite is a streamlined, compact option aimed at essential alarm transport needs—focused on core dialler/serial connectivity and enrolment into Multipath-IP monitoring plans—making it a cost-effective choice when you want dependable communications without the expanded I/O of the T4000X.

Alarm Monitoring FAQs
It’s the Australian term for professionally monitored alarms: activations at your site are sent “back to base” — a staffed monitoring centre — where an operator assesses the event and acts on your response plan, rather than a siren sounding to nobody.
Monthly cost depends on the communications path (single or dual), the polling rate your compliance or insurer requires, the number of areas or sites, and the complexity of your response plan. Request a consultation, and we’ll quote against your actual requirements.
Yes — takeovers are routine. If your site signals over Permaconn, Direct Wireless or Multipath-IP, the communicator usually stays in place; we re-commission the connection to our centre and prove it end-to-end before going live.
No. Monitoring runs over supervised IP and 4G signalling. If your system still reports over a PSTN-era dialler, that’s exactly what we upgrade during takeover.
The DirectWireless 4G Alarm Monitoring Network guarantees reliable signal transmission by offering Single or Dual SIM configurations to protect against network outages. System integrity is actively monitored through customizable polling intervals of 120 seconds, 1 hour, or 12 hours to ensure continuous communication with the Monitoring Centre. Should any automatic check go unanswered, events are immediately escalated in accordance with your response plan, ensuring the network’s classification as an insurance-approved Class 2 (C2) service.
The Permaconn Alarm Monitoring Network guarantees maximum security by transmitting data exclusively through dedicated Optus and Telstra Virtual Private Networks (VPNs). All communications are protected by AES128 end-to-end encryption to keep your data safe. Additionally, Permaconn’s dual-SIM devices seamlessly transition between these two major cellular networks to ensure a guaranteed 99.9% uptime.
Permaconn Core Capabilities: Dynamic Redundancy & Security
Permaconn alarm communicators guarantee continuous, highly redundant event transmission between supervised premises and central monitoring stations through a dynamic, multi-path architecture:
* Primary IP Connection: Delivers high-speed, reliable primary signal transmission via standard active Ethernet networks.
* Automatic Dual-SIM Failover: Ensures uninterrupted communication by seamlessly and automatically switching to redundant cellular networks via dual-SIM functionality if the primary IP path drops.
* End-to-End AES Encryption: Protects all transmitted data from interception or tampering using robust AES128 encryption across a secure, Permaconn-dedicated VPN.
The Inner Range Multipath network provides uninterrupted signal transmission by transmitting data across multiple independent paths, including fixed-line IP and mobile 4G. All communications are protected by high-level AES encryption to keep your data safe. Additionally, Multipath’s dual-SIM communicators seamlessly transition between primary internet connections and major cellular networks to ensure a continuous, fail-safe link to the Monitoring Centre.
