Card Readers

The right reader for every door, credential, and environment

From mobile-ready enterprise readers to hardened high-security smart card platforms — JD Security supplies and integrates card readers that match your access control system, credential strategy, and site requirements.

Two black AXIS Communications RFID access control readers against a white background; the left reader features a numeric keypad, and the right is a slim mullion-style reader without a keypad.

Card readers are the frontline of your access control system

The reader is every employee’s daily touchpoint with your security system — and the first line of defence against unauthorised entry. Choosing the wrong reader means compromising security through outdated credential formats, creating operational friction with poor read reliability, or locking yourself into proprietary systems that limit future flexibility. The right reader matches your access control platform, supports the credential types your organisation uses today and plans to deploy tomorrow, and communicates securely with your controllers.

Key Benefits:

Protocol matters

OSDP replaces vulnerable legacy Wiegand with encrypted, bidirectional, tamper-detected communication between reader and controller

Credential flexibility

multi-technology readers support legacy 125 kHz and modern 13.56 MHz smart cards simultaneously, protecting investment during migrations

Mobile-ready by default

select readers support Bluetooth, NFC, and Apple Wallet — allowing a full transition away from physical credentials

Cybersecurity at the edge

hardware secure elements, EAL5+/EAL6+ certified key storage, and encrypted communication protect against reader-level attacks

Remote management

modern readers allow firmware updates, configuration changes, and diagnostic monitoring without on-site visits

Platform compatibility

JD Security specifies readers that are verified compatible with your access control platform — Genetec, Inner Range, HID, Axis, or Avigilon

Access Cards

Encrypted Smart Card

HID iCLASS cards provide a higher level of security than proximity card technology & can be used for applications including access control, network log-on, cashless vending, time & attendance, event management & biometric identification, all from the same card.

HID iCLASS cards transmit data using encryption algorithms with mutual authentication between smart card & reader, dramatically reducing the risk of compromised data or card duplication should a card be lost or stolen.

Optimised to enhance physical access control, HID iCLASS 13.56 MHz read/write contactless smart card technology provides versatile interoperability & supports multiple applications such as biometric authentication, cashless vending, and PC logon security.
