AXIS Barcode Reader is an edge-based ACAP application — licensed per device via eLicence — that installs on supported Axis cameras and intercoms to deliver QR code access control without additional hardware. Both static and dynamic QR codes are supported, with dynamic codes generated via the AXIS Mobile Credential app rendering screenshots, photocopies, and video recordings of credentials completely invalid — eliminating the risk of code copying. Credentials of up to 200 bytes can be issued with a defined validity period, removing the cost and waste of physical access cards. The application supports up to five doors per device, communicates via OSDP and Wiegand protocols, and integrates fully with AXIS Camera Station Secure Entry. Third-party access control systems connect via the AXIS A8207-VE Mk II, with open VAPIX API support for custom integration.
