Unlike cameras, radar is unaffected by darkness, shadows, glare, rain, or fog, making it the most reliable first line of defence for perimeter and open-area protection.
Using edge AI analytics built on machine learning and deep learning, AXIS Radars distinguish humans from vehicles, animals, and environmental noise — dramatically reducing false alarms and ensuring security personnel focus on real threats. Radars work standalone for non-visual monitoring or paired with PTZ cameras for instant visual verification on detection.

Radar-video fusion with PTZ cameras
Pair D2122-VE and D2123-VE with ARTPEC-9 PTZ cameras on a single IP address. The radar detects and classifies; the camera auto-tracks and provides visual verification.
Precise object positioning
Unlike camera-based motion detection, radar provides the exact coordinates of every detected object — enabling accurate PTZ steering, mapping overlays, and alarm zoning.
Licence-free operation
No ongoing software licence fees. AXIS Radar analytics run on the device using edge AI — reducing total cost of ownership compared to server-side video analytics platforms.
Privacy-preserving detection
Radar detects and tracks without capturing identifiable imagery, making it suitable for privacy-sensitive areas such as employee zones, public spaces, and residential boundaries.
Multi-radar coexistence
Deploy multiple radars in close proximity without interference. D2122-VE and D2123-VE support up to 11 co-located units within a 500 m zone. Different frequency models can be mixed freely.
