AXIS Box Cameras
The full AXIS box camera range — M11, P13, P15, Q16 and Q17 series — for long-range, low-light and specialist views that need a specific lens.
AXIS cameras are network devices first and cameras second. AXIS designs its own processor, writes its own operating system, and publishes a software support end date for every model — so the camera you specify has a documented service life, not an assumed one. JD Security designs, engineers and commissions AXIS camera systems as an AXIS Gold Partner.
ARTPEC-9, the ninth generation of the AXIS system-on-chip, is designed in-house specifically for video surveillance. Image processing, compression, analytics and cyber security are engineered as one system rather than assembled from parts.
That control shows up in ways you can measure. ARTPEC-9 adds a deep learning processing unit for on-camera analytics, and it is the first AXIS chip to support AV1 — an open, royalty-free codec designed to reduce bandwidth and storage demand without giving up forensic detail. Paired with Axis Zipstream, it changes what a large camera count costs to record and retain.
AXIS also writes AXIS OS, the Linux-based operating system running on more than 400 of its devices, and publishes the software support end date for each product at launch. You are not guessing how long the camera stays patched.
Imaging built for real conditions
Lightfinder, Forensic WDR and OptimizedIR hold colour and detail through backlight, glare and near-total darkness, which is where evidence is usually lost.
Zipstream and AV1 compression
bitrate reduction that protects forensic detail, which is what makes long retention periods affordable at scale.
AXIS Object Analytics, pre-installed
detection, classification, counting and tracking of people and vehicles ships with the camera rather than arriving as a separate licence.
CAP for third-party applications
the AXIS Camera Application Platform lets purpose-built analytics run on the camera, which is how a specialist application reaches a site without new hardware.
Axis Edge Vault
a hardware security module inside the camera storing a factory-provisioned device identity, enabling secure boot, signed AXIS OS and signed video.
A five-year warranty across most of the portfolio
covering design, workmanship and material, running from the shipment date, with no registration required.
Most camera disappointments are lighting problems, not resolution problems. Car parks at dusk. Loading docks with the sun behind them. Corridors lit from one end only. AXIS pairs Lightfinder for low-light colour retention with Forensic WDR for high-contrast scenes, and OptimizedIR for even infrared coverage instead of a hot centre and dark edges. Where a scene changes character across the day, we model it at design stage rather than discovering it at handover.
The full AXIS box camera range — M11, P13, P15, Q16 and Q17 series — for long-range, low-light and specialist views that need a specific lens.
The full AXIS fixed dome range — M, P and Q series — for discreet, vandal-resistant coverage across entrances, public areas and transport.
The full AXIS bullet camera range — M20, P14 and Q18 series — for visible, weather-rated coverage across perimeters, car parks and yards.
Cover large open areas with a single camera and zoom to detail on demand. View the M50, M55, P56, Q60, Q62, Q63, Q6411-LE, Q8752-E Mk II and V59 series.
The full AXIS panoramic range — M3057, M3077, M43, P37, P38, P47, Q38, Q48, Q6020-E and Q6030-E — for wide-area coverage from fewer cameras.

The full AXIS explosion-protected range — P1468-XLE, Q1961-XTE, XFQ1656 and ExCam models — for oil and gas, mining and grain handling sites.
Every camera you install is a networked device with an IP address, an operating system and a credential. Your IT team will assess it the way they assess a laptop — and increasingly, they hold the veto.
AXIS is unusually well placed for that conversation. Axis Edge Vault provides a hardware-based secure keystore inside the camera, holding a factory-provisioned IEEE 802.1AR device identity that proves the device is genuine, and supports authenticated onboarding through 802.1X. Secure boot blocks unsigned software, signed AXIS OS blocks tampered updates, and signed video lets you demonstrate that exported footage has not been altered. Selected models carry FIPS 140-2 Level 2 certified key storage.
We deploy to the AXIS OS Hardening Guide and can align device hardening with your own ACSC Essential Eight obligations. AXIS OS 12 moves to long-term support in September 2026 as AXIS OS 13 becomes the active track — and deciding which track each camera sits on is a design decision, not an afterthought.
