Avigilon Hybrid Cloud

A hybrid cloud video surveillance system is a combination of on-premise and cloud security infrastructure. It is an ideal approach for customers who want to take advantage of various security benefits of the cloud while maintaining greater control over their data. Avigilon offers varying degrees of control and advantages with its hybrid deployments:

• The Avigilon cloud platform manages all authentication, and the customer has complete control over the accounts created within it.
• By default, all video footage and metadata are stored on customers’ Avigilon cameras / Network Video Recorders.
• Only the customer can grant permission to Avigilon or Avigilon partner within ACS; access always remains under customer control.

Avigilon Cloud Services (ACS) combined with Avigilon Control Center (ACC) enables customers to use a web browser or the ACC Mobile 3 app to access live and recorded video with minimal or no changes to the customer’s network security. With this flexible model, customers can efficiently monitor cameras in multiple locations from a central position or through the mobile app to quickly detect, verify and act on suspicious events.

Avigilon maintains physical, technical, and procedural safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of customer data. Each level of the product development process is reviewed by only authorised professionals with access to the source code since access to the ACC™ software development infrastructure is restricted using multi-factor authentication. As a check, all source codes are manually evaluated for security best practices and approved by other team members before they are merged into the product code base.

These safeguards protect customer data from loss and unauthorised access, copying, use, modification or disclosure. Amongst other things, to help safeguard the customer’s privacy, Data, Avigilon requires that its employees and personnel with access to any customer data review and comply with the terms of this Privacy Policy and the Avigilon Privacy Statement and otherwise comply with all applicable Avigilon internal policies and procedures related to data confidentiality, privacy and security. Additionally, Motorola Solutions-approved security software is installed on all employee computers — including tools to prevent data loss, regularly updated anti¬malware defence controls, and control software to restrict access to files and information.

Authentication & Authorisation

Federated Authentication allows for centralized administration of user identities. It simplifies user management when customers have multiple Avigilon solutions and/or geographically distributed sites. Users can use their corporate login credentials across ACC, ACS, Access Control Manager (ACM), Ava, and Openpath, removing the need, complexity, and time to set up and use separate logins for each platform.

To ensure the privacy and security of video images, once users are authenticated to gain access to the system, ACC uses Role-Based Access Controls (RBAC) so that each user only has access to features and videos appropriate to their role.
